Rosgis is a service by the Finnish Environment Institute that allows anyone to report litter observations and contribute to research. Researchers cannot be everywhere, so citizen-reported sightings are essential for gathering comprehensive data.

Information on the amount and types of litter is needed to gain a full understanding of the littering situation in Finland. This data helps identify ways to prevent littering and target actions to the most affected areas.
