Finnish Environment Institute SYKE monitors the development of the amounts and source-separation rates of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) 2016–2023.

The total amounts of WEEE in the Circwaste key regions are estimated based on the national statistics on producer responsibility of WEEE (Pirkanmaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment) and mixed municipal solid waste (Statistics Finland).

The share of WEEE in the mixed municipal solid waste is estimated based on regional picking analyses on mixed municipal solid waste. In the absence of regional picking analyses, a national estimate on the share is used (Suomen kiertovoima ry KIVO, Koostumustietopankki).

The national amounts of WEEE and municipal solid waste are divided to the regions based on population. The source-separation rate is estimated by dividing the amount of WEEE separately collected by the total amount of WEEE in each region.

The total amounts and separate-collection rates of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in Circwaste key regions

You can view the amounts and separate-collection rates of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) using the Tableau visualization below.

The chart shows estimate of the total amount and seperate collection rates of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) generated by households in the different key areas of the Cirwaste project. The figures are based on national statistics, which are devided to each region on the basis of population and results of both national ja regional mixed municipal waste composition surveys.
